The story begins in 1931 in northern France, under the impetus of its founder, René Coucke. In its very early days, the brand was not yet known for its tea towels, but distinguished itself as a manufacturer specializing in handkerchiefs.
Faced with changing lifestyles, Coucke underwent a strategic shift in the 1970s. The company gradually moved away from handkerchiefs to focus on table and kitchen linen. It was during this period that the brand truly began to enter the daily lives and kitchens of households.
Growth continued in 1996 when Coucke was acquired by the Vanderschooten company. By joining this family business from northern France, founded in 1947, the brand consolidated its position as a specialist in kitchen, table, and kitchen accessories linen.
To adapt to modern interiors, Coucke reinvents its style. The brand draws inspiration from typical symbols of French culture and focuses its creations on gastronomy and conviviality. Its linen becomes a veritable melting pot of styles that combines tradition and modernity.
Today, Coucke is proud to perpetuate exceptional textile expertise. Many ranges are labeled "Origine France Garantie" (Guaranteed French Origin), with fabrics woven in the Vosges and then crafted by our expert seamstresses in our historic workshop in Hauts-de-France, ensuring impeccable quality.
